Tom Watson, a seasoned British politician, member of the House of Lords and former Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, is recognised for his unwavering commitment to social justice, transparency and democratic values.

During his political career, Tom served in senior government roles, including as a Defence and Cabinet Office Minister, working from 10 Downing Street in the latter role.

Tom’s dedication to public service reflects a lifelong belief in liberal democratic values and social improvement. He has led efforts to ensure greater transparency in government and consistently advocated for the rights of vulnerable communities.

Outside of frontline politics, Tom has continued his advocacy work on social issues in the UK and globally. As Chair of UK Music, he has also been instrumental in championing the country’s creative industries. He is a Sunday Times best-selling author of four books and regular newspaper columnist and newsletter writer.

As a DNLA Ambassador, Tom brings his passion for justice and democracy to the international stage, amplifying Ukraine’s story at a crucial time in its history. His work aligns closely with DNLA’s mission, supporting impactful storytelling to foster awareness and bolster global support for Ukraine’s fight for sovereignty and freedom.
